Very difficult terrain includes areas that are even more arduous to move through such as the following: Incredibly thick woods packed with briars and thorns. Almost sheer slopes that need to be climbed on hands and knees. Fast flowing but still fordable rivers. Very difficult terrain reduces movement to 1/4 speed. Fractions are rounded up to the nearest 1/2" to prevent unnecessary complication.

Very Difficult Terrain

During the movement phase, or move phase, you get the opportunity to move your forces on the battlefield. As with the turn sequence, the things that you can do within the movement phase are performed in a strict sequence. An overview of each part of the sequence is given below and further rules governing movement are discussed in the section entitled Moving Troops. Declare Charges
If you want any of your troops to charge you must declare this at the very start of the
movement phase. Rally Fleeing Troops
If any of your troops are fleeing you may attempt to rally them. Compulsory Moves
Move troops that are subject to a compulsory movement rule. Move Chargers
Move charging troops and resolve other movement resulting from the charge. Remaining Moves
Move the rest of your troops.
