The flying high creature may be positioned in the unit's flank. It is suggested that they be placed in the front if there is any room.

Flying creatures must charge to the front of the target unit, unless it is already engaged to the front. Does this mean that a unit that is screened by another unit directly in front of it is immune to being charged by flying creatures (even if the would-be target unit's sides and rear are not so screened)?URL Copied!

Yes. Play it that fliers are not affected by the 'defended obstacle' rule (i.e. they hit normally).

No and No. In reality the flyer is still wheeling above the unit. Combats are worked out against the target's front.
Note, this would not be the rule if the flyer charged using its ground movement.
